Split screen no longer loading my character in since update

I'm not really 100% where to post this, but my gf and myself have been playing on realms for over a year. We sometimes play apart on seperate devices which still works fine, but since the recent update when we try playing split screen the game will never log in the 2nd players proper account. Now it always just sets to world spawn. (This wasn't an issue before, we could always continue our progress regardless if we were playing separately or together on split screen.) So we're trying to play split screen on an Xbox series S. We start Minecraft with only one controller on, load into our realm, then once the game is loading we turn on the second controller and sign in... But it will just give a new character spawned at world spawn. For some reason it won't let us load in our server character. Is this a known bug or are there any tips of how to resolve this issue?

    Same problem! Wish we hadn’t updated it to mounts of mayhem. I hope it gets resolved soon. Please, mojang!!

    Same thing here, happened just before Xmas to us, cannot play 2nd player in split screen regardless of which account was signed in first, 2nd player is always spammed in as I'd a brand new player in that world.
