Timing is off when charging with spear whilst riding a nautilus

I'm playing on bedrock on ps5. When you ride a nautilus and charge attack an entity on land, the targeted entity takes damage instantly when I release L2. Something is off white the timing, the damage should be delt later as the charge attack hits.
