So we currently have 3 major problems with the game: the Version Numbering System, Parity between Java and Bedrock and the features that today have problems or are a problem but can't be changed. If you think about it, Bedrock is already compatible with any device but has a lot of problems that need to be solved to be the definitive Minecraft version and there's some things that are worse than in Java. Also the fact that it's really hard to mod and that you basically only have extra content, texture packs and more through the marketplace.
So the idea is simple; what about a Minecraft 2.0? A new edition compatible with any device similar to Bedrock but with changes to make it more similar to Java, capable of being modded so people can use mods and texture packs if they play on pc but can use the marketplace to play with mods and texture packs with people who play on other devices. This new edition would bring parity, have everything that people like most about both Java and about Bedrock like how impaling, cauldrons and more work on Bedrock or how shields, the offhand, the ability to choose a specific version and more works on Java (probably with some options to choose what type of menu, camera settings and more you want, if the ones from Java or Bedrock) and could be a good oportunity to make some small QOL changes and additions that people have been asking for and the Version Numbering System could be changed so instead of 1.XX.X or YY.X.X is 2.YY.XX
