Hello, I have been playing Minecraft since the early days with the alpha and beta versions, ages back.I have an idea that might give a little quality of life to players while not changing game mechanics too much for those who don't want changes.
In Minecraft you have villagers that walk around mindlessly, doing their little tasks, looking at each other, offering trades, maybe doing their jobs with the job blocks, etc. but they don't really feel alive.
What if you were to make the villagers prefer generated paths (dirt path)
or certain blocks like stone, (if used as a roadway for instance), to travel to their given points of interest. Like if they want to reach a given point, they could have a priority of blocks they would choose to get to that task, they would prefer to go on a: dirt path (high priority, since paths are made either by generation or players using a shovel and right-clicking.) cobblestone, stone (there is a logic problem here, but you can bypass that by adding code to exclude generated stone as that is what they are attracted to travel to.
To touch on the above: this could allow players creative freedom to have villagers follow sidewalks for a city, or a route in a factory.
This could open the door to many new mechanics, such as establishing trade routes between villages, having a villager share "news", give quests, or general little affirmations in the Minecraft way, (since the villagers don't speak clearly but try to emphasize importance.)
Thank you!
