I would like to suggest a new zombie variant for snowy and frozen biomes called the Gelid. Skeletons already have the Stray as their cold-region counterpart, but zombies have no equivalent. The Gelid fills this gap and adds atmosphere and challenge to winter areas.
Spawn:
The Gelid replaces 50% of Zombie spawns in Snowy Plains, Snowy Taiga, Frozen River, Ice Spikes, Frozen Ocean, and Deep Frozen Ocean. It is immune to freezing and powdered snow damage, making it naturally suited to cold environments.
Appearance:
The Gelid looks like a frozen survivor. It wears a blue-jean shirt, ice-blue jeans, old snow boots, and a damaged winter coat with the hood down. Ice chunks stick to its body, and small snow particles may fall as it walks, giving it a clear frozen identity.
Abilities:
If the Gelid takes continuous fire damage for 5 seconds, it melts with a unique sound and transforms into a normal Zombie. When it attacks, it applies Mining Fatigue I briefly, making fights in snowy biomes more dangerous.
Sound:
Its voice is based on Zombie sounds but altered to be hollow and cave-like, as if echoing inside frozen air.
Drops:
It drops normal zombie loot plus 1–3 snowballs.
Why it fits:
The Gelid completes the snowy-biome undead set, adds strategic depth through its fire-triggered transformation, and strengthens the identity of cold regions without adding excessive difficulty. It blends naturally with Minecraft’s style while providing a memorable new variant.
