Hope/suggestions for Minecraft 2D/3D (item) modeling

I hope/suggest that Minecraft change its original 2D (item) modeling to 3D (item) modeling.

    It would be nice to have that feature possible to be modified by datapacks (guess what - there is?!), but changing it now would feel alien to most players, at least I believe so. How would it benefit game in the long run?
