After only playing on Xbox for 16 years, I finally decided I wanted to play with my friends. We all have MacBooks, so I have to get the Java edition. After dealing with the hell that is the launcher and getting no kind of welcome or tutorial, I finally get into the game. It's terrible. It looks terrible. The controls are awful. I can't even transfer my skin from Bedrock to Java; I would have had to draw it from scratch. I go through the two hours of hell that is drawing a skin from scratch; it looks terrible in the game, but I have concluded that the entire game looks awful. I decide I'm going to suck it up so I can play with my friends, so I'll shut up about how terrible the game looks and why blocks are floating in the sky, and instead, I make the move to try to connect my Xbox controller. You can't connect a controller to Java without a mod. Modding is the worst, most overly complicated thing I have ever seen in my life. Almost all of my games have mods, and this is definitely the worst system for it. I spent $40 on this nonsense, and it feels like I'm getting ripped off, because everyone who's been playing this garbage has already experienced it. They have normalized not getting what you pay for. Minecraft Java Edition is about as good as the base game of Sims 4. I've never regretted a purchase more in my life.
