There are already a few posts about parcheds dropping sand, but I want to expand on that idea a bit further.
Add quicksand to deserts.
Quicksand would function similarly to powdered snow but with behavior inspired by soul sand. Walking over quicksand would slow you down, and if you stand still for about a second, you begin to sink. Once you start sinking, you can’t jump out anymore. Quicksand can only be collected using a bucket, just like powdered snow, and there’s no specific tool that breaks it faster. Breaking quicksand takes around 3 seconds, or 6 seconds if you are breaking it while you are sinking. The quicksand block has gravity. If you sink deep enough, you start taking damage similar to being suffocated. The Feather Falling enchantment would reduce your sinking speed. Camels, camel husks and rabbits would not sink in quicksand at all, encouraging players to use camels for safe desert travel.
Also, like water and powdered snow, quicksand could convert certain mobs. Water turns zombies into drowneds, and powdered snow turns skeletons into strays. With quicksand, zombies could be converted into husks, and skeletons into parcheds.
Finally, parcheds should drop sand. This has been one of the most requested features, as it would make sand a renewable and farmable resource without relying on glitches or waiting endlessly for wandering traders who offer very little. I’d remove the normal arrow drop, keep the weakness arrow drop, and add 1–2 blocks of sand to their loot table.
