Minecraft Feature Feedback — Seek the Horizons Update Concept

Below are several suggestions focused on improving exploration, biome diversity, building customization, and utility.

Desert Biome Improvements — Palm Trees

  • Add Palm Trees that generate rarely in Deserts and commonly on Beaches

  • Provide a renewable wood source for desert survival

  • Introduce a Palm Wood Set with a green-tinted palette for unique building options

  • Palm Leaves Cannot drop apples

Sniffer Exploration Upgrade

Enhance the Sniffer’s role in exploration:

  • Give the Sniffer the ability to track a specific biome

    • Activated by giving it an item from that biome (e.g., a Jungle Sapling)

    • Sniffer leads the player to the nearest matching biome

  • Add ability to ride the Sniffer, but without player control — it chooses the path

  • Sniffer may fall asleep on long trips

    • Can be woken by feeding seeds or plants

Banner & Creativity Enhancements

  • Banner Beds: Combine a Bed with a Banner in crafting to apply the banner’s pattern to the bed

  • Expanded Banner Pattern Limit and add more shapes/icons (waves, spirals, sun, moon, animals)

  • Banner Boats: Attach a banner to boats (similar to chest boats)

    • Displays a flag behind the player while sailing and increasing the maximum speed but can be ridden by one player only 

Wood-Specific Chests

  • Crafting a chest with any wood type produces a wood-matching chest

    • Texture, color, and appearance based on the wood used

  • Double chests retain the wood appearance

  • Chest Boats also match wood type

    I would only make 3 changes:

    1. Palm trees shouldn't give green panks, there's other trees that could be used for that tho (like the greenheart trees found in tropical rainforests). The palm tree could give a reddish-brown wood maybe, like a middle point between jungle and mangrove wood.

    2. Maybe palm trees could drop some new fruits since they grow a few irl.

    3. Would be better if instead of putting banners on beds we could edit beds like banners.
