Gargoyles For Nighttime Protection (and Other Magical Statues?)

I'm actually very surprised that gargoyles don't exist as a vanilla mob with the focus on the daylight cycle that already exists. They would be perfect for guarding natural structures, and removing them with silk touch could then "pacify" them once you place them where ever you want them. Great idea for protecting villages at night or your own builds with a cool aesthetic during the day. Even better if there were different kinds to seek out 

This could also extend to things like enchanted armor stands that come to life to protect an area
