The Bedrock Edition scripting API has for a long time been a massive draw of writing content for Bedrock Edition. But it has always seemed strange that it is locked to the Bedrock edition, leaving Java's datapacks system, while massively expanded, still lacking in terms of DevEx experience. With it still requiring hacky workarounds and massive, unreadable mcfunction files. While Bedrock, with its scripting API, has not suffered from this problem, leading to a much better experience. With the seemingly overall drive to improve Java additions commands and datapacks, it seems logical to bring over the really intuitive scripting system from Bedrock. Especially given that besides from the JS runtime implementation, none of its features seem to be truly platform locked, or at least in a way that clashes with the direction Java datapacks already seem to be heading towards. I, and I assume many others, would love to see a similar, or even the same system of scripting brought from Bedrock over to Java.
