We already have bees, why not add another domesticated insect? Moths are super important for the environment IRL, just like bees!
Moths could spawn as caterpillars on trees during the day, or maybe as eggs on the underside of leaves (theyd be super small, like frogspawn). The player could take the eggs home and let them hatch into caterpillars, who would need leaves to survive. The caterpillar could get bigger in 2 stages before pupating, and after a few days a moth would emerge. After the moth emerges the player could collect the pupae and turn them into silk fabric with the loom. This fabric could be used for trading, more elaborate banners or rugs and stuff.
The moths themselves could act like pollinators of certain flowers during the night in game, they could also like chill on treed during the day and only be active at night.
I think this is a cool feature, because kind of like bees it would be totally optional but still really rewarding and educational. Plus, the pupae would only be harvestable once the moth emerges, so there wouldn't be concerns over animal cruelty like with the parrot/firefly thing.
