spears as a defensive weapon

currently, the spears function more like lances rather then the mostly defensive weapon that they should be, minecraft combat is very focused on the offense and the spear could have been an interesting way to fix that but instead they just made them functionally lances and made them useless in what is essentially one of the spear's primary function which is to hold the line and stop enemy charges. i feel like a proper spear weapon should work in the opposite way to how spears work now with a brace mechanic instead of a charge. a charge mechanic could be added through a lance weapon or be tied to mount (which will aid balancing too as charging with elytra is currently extremely powerful)

Would be cool if spear's charge worked as a block for direct hits while on ground or in air.
