Details:
In the darkest corners of Minecraft, the walls sometimes breathe.
Shadebound is a new undead mob that disguises itself as hanging curtains or fabric in abandoned homes and cabins. It remains still during the day, blending perfectly with walls and shadows. When night falls or light levels drop below 2, it comes alive.
Behavior:
-
Appears as a curtain until a player gets close or sleeps nearby.
-
Turns invisible in torchlight.
-
Moves silently and attacks by wrapping around players, inflicting suffocation damage.
-
Avoids open sunlight and retreats into shadows.
Drops:
Dream Cloth, used to craft a “Night Veil” cloak that reduces hostile mob detection by 25% at night.
Spawn:
Abandoned houses, ruined villages, and new dark “Insomnia” mini-biomes.
Lore:
Legends say Shadebounds are born from curtains that watched their owners sleep for too long, absorbing their fear of the dark until they became alive.
(Concept inspired by real blackout curtains and duct tape setup. I have photos that show how the idea began. Happy to share if allowed!)
