Combining the spear with elytra is strong, but fun! The issue is, it’s only fun for the elytra player; it’s not fun at all if you’re the opponent who can’t do much to counter or defend.
One problem is the hurtbox, to target players gliding, is extremely small and almost impossible to hit. It should be the other way around; big hurtbox to make it possible to target flying players from the ground.
Another issue is that it’s too easy for players with elytra to run away without risk. I think players getting attacked while flying should have their elytra disabled for 2s for melee hits and 1s for projectiles. It would reduce the overwhelming advantage of elytras, and add some much needed risk to taking flight mid fight, while keeping the item the same for regular PVE/building.
Adding more risk to elytras will only help spice up the spear for PVP.
