Limit the spear to on ground or on mobs only, ofcourse you can still jump

With minecraft making new weapons and the spear the newest we have seen that the spear is Op. So I have a suggestion we already have the mace which does damage from falling and it's very rare to get and relatively hard to use in combat. Now the spear both makes it easyer and cheat which takes the spark of the mace away. So if we limit the spear to on the or near the ground or on any rideable mob we can have the new opportunities of the spears full power while not taking the maces value away. With this you should still be able to make minecart contrapoint for the spear, breed horses, ect but now if your using an elytras or in the air you won't do damage. We could do it so the spear does more damage in water.

  I just think that the enchantment that adds damage to the spear should be really rare, but I think once the spear has that enchantment, it should just be a horizontal version of the mace

  maybe adding a damage cap at certain speed or making it stop charging faster the faster you move could fix this issue

  If it is a horizontal version of the mace it should be on the ground as you can just fly horizontally into people and that is op and easy. Where as the mace it's much more difficult
