I've recently tested the new spear weapon and realized that it just isn't worth it to be used much as a weapon choice, it's slow, weak, needs much more skill to be used properly, is very situational and the lunge enchantment
consumes too much durability for it to not be able to be used with mending. For it to be a viable weapon, it should either have better damage, less durability taken from lunge, or more enchantments to contrast with the lunge.
I myself just thought of two really useful enchantments that can be balanced and make the spear a viable weapon with it's current damage, such as:
- The "Airflow" enchantment, that when in charge mode the user gains speed referenced to it's camera/view(even while idle), with the speed varying with enchantment level. The tool also loses durability every second it is in charge mode.
- And the "Spirit Spear" or "Ghost Throw", witch changes the charging mode into a throwing mode, keeping the weapon in hand and sending a yellow/white glowing spear-like projectile that isn't effected by gravity, deals damage equals of the jab, and vanishes after touching blocks/mobs, when the user starts charging it again or a certain distance is reached(varying with enchantment level). Not having a long reach like a bow, but proving to be versatile and viable to be used.
