100% agree. I just tried out the enchantment and found it to be so much fun, but I honestly don't see myself enchanting a netherite spear with lunge in survival if the durability cost is this high and especially if it means I'll have to spend netherite on an anvil or make a new one when the durability wears off.

We want the lunge with mending exactly the crossbow make it better instead of removing the mending with lunge make something different which may a weakness for spear

Maybe not being compatible with mending could be a good thing since it's such a unique enchantment, but let's be real. The durability it costs to use it is way too high. And I also dont see myself repairing a netherite spear with an ingot. I would rather just not use lunge on the spear and put mending on it instead. Here are my solutions based on how important they are:
1.Reduce durability cost for using lunge enchantment
2.Make lunge enchantment compatible with mending
3.Introduce some other way to repair the spear (highly doubting this one)

I agree with this, because a wooden or gold spear breaks instantly with one use from Lunge 3. This needs to be balanced depending on weapon tiers:

This example is for Lunge 3 enchantment:

    • Wood: 4 durability used per lunge
    • Stone: 8 durability used per lunge
    • Iron: 16 durability used per lunge
    • Copper: 12 durability used per lunge
    • Gold: 2 durability used per lunge
    • Diamond: 98 durability used per lunge
    • Netherite: 127 durability used per lunge

This makes it worth it using Lunge 3 on weaker spears.

The thing that I find weird about them trying to overbalance Lunge is that Riptide on a Trident only reduces the durability by 1, and that allows you to travel much farther than Lunge does. The current implementation of the enchantment just heavily disincentives use of the Spear at all, since combat-wise it's much less useful than a Sword, you can't use it for mobility without your Spear just breaking, and the enchantment is incompatible with Mending.
