Making sure that the copper golem does not get blocked

I noticed that if the copper golem takes an item from the copper chest that is not present in the nearby chests, it keeps the item in its hand and continues to check them all unnecessarily. Would it be possible to make it so that after checking the various chests for that item, it puts it back in the copper chest and continues to take the other items in it, to rearrange them, until all the other slots in the copper chest are empty?
