PLEASE add a damage cap/limit on the spear - it breaks competitive PVP.

    • I got even more arguments for and why it's BETTER than the mace, but i reached the character limit lol

     

    • the mace was PROUDLY announced as the strongest weapon in the game a year ago, with PRIDE... the mace dealing infinite damage is a part of its core functionality, it's a part of its brand, plus... believe it or not, the mace is SURPRISINGLY balanced in competitive PVP... so the spear shouldn't COMPETE whatsoever... the mace should be the only weapon that deals infinite damage.

     

    • even from a game design perspective... how does a spear deal infinite damage? why wouldn't a shovel deal infinite damage (it's literally the same crafting recipe), why wouldn't a sword deal infinite damage? the spear is quite literally just a longer version of the sword..... it doesn't make sense from a game design perspective whatsoever......

    Damage cap? The mace is EASILY better than the spear in damage, you can go infinite blocks up whenever you want, at what place you want. But with the spear, if you want ALOT of speed, you need to build a redstone machine that boosts you and etc.

     

    Also, to the 'everybody is happy' message that you said, I'm not sure about that one, more people would be angry than happy. And if it breaks PvP, servers can easily program a plugin with a damage cap, if that is what they want. Or, just dont play it

    i tested it, wooden spears take 4 hits to kill an elder guardian with elytra + firework rocket boost. that is a kill in less hits than a netherite sword would need.

    I think the spear needs to have a durability that breaks the harder you hit something. Considering how cheap it is to make, being pretty much just a shovel, I disagree with the comment about ignoring it. In multiplayer, you don't always get that choice.

    Yeah, I tested it on the snapshot and It's overpowered.

    I agree, maybe some sort of cap on damage, or if not maybe all durability is removed and it breaks over a certain damage? That would be better since its already a pretty cheap weapon.

    They should just nerf the damage it is when combined with an elytra. Same with the mace but only when fall damage is off but that’s a whole new discussion.
