With the new upcoming addition of a spear coming to Minecraft, the sword & Axe have yet to get their own secondary use in combat. Swords & Axes only have their special abilities on Java edition which could be real fun to use on bedrock. However, if the spear is getting two attacks like the Trident, so should the sword & Axe.
Right clicking with a sword should do something similar to the old block we had in console, but instead of reducing damage while held, it should act as a counter attack from the front to disable most weapons like the spear when up close, with the exceptions being the Mace & Axe.
On the other hands, the Axe could have a Hook move in which the player thrusts forward and back with slightly extended range to inflict low damage but real reverse knock back as well as stun for a second. It could be out-ranged by spears but give an advantage when close up.
This weapon triangle could add more mayhem to fights and introduce sword duels to the game like how spears added jousting, while axes could make hunting more agile mobs more efficient and exciting… besides, who doesn’t love a good weapon triangle?
