Overview:
Currently, redstone can only be placed on horizontal surfaces, limiting creative and technical builds. I propose allowing redstone dust to be placed and activated on vertical wall surfaces, similar to how vines or item frames attach to walls.
Benefits:
• Compact Redstone Builds: Enables more space-efficient circuitry, especially in tight builds or redstone contraptions.
• Aesthetic Integration: Redstone lines on walls could be used decoratively, adding a tech-like or magical feel to builds.
• New Puzzle Mechanics: Adventure maps could use wall-based redstone for hidden doors, traps, or clues.
• Enhanced Redstone Engineering: Opens up new possibilities for vertical logic gates, wall-based signal transmission, and multi-layered redstone systems.
Implementation Ideas:
• Redstone dust could visually appear as a thin line or circuit pattern on the wall.
• It could connect to adjacent blocks like observers, pistons, or redstone torches.
• Power transmission rules could mirror those of horizontal redstone, with some tweaks for vertical logic.
Why It Matters:
This change would empower builders and redstone engineers to create more compact, creative, and visually interesting contraptions. It’s a small tweak with huge potential for gameplay depth.
