Hello Microsoft/Mojang Team,
I’m writing as a dedicated Minecraft player and a supporter of your goal to make Minecraft accessible and fun for everyone. I want to respectfully ask you to consider removing the requirement for paid subscriptions (like Xbox Live Gold, PlayStation Plus, or Nintendo Switch Online) just to play Minecraft online.
Minecraft is a game that’s already paid for — and its biggest strength is how it brings people together across platforms and devices. However, only console players are required to pay extra just to play with friends online. That means players on PC and mobile get full online features for free, while console players are stuck behind an additional paywall.
This feels unfair, especially for younger players and families who may not be able to afford multiple subscriptions on top of buying the game.
Making online play free for Minecraft on all consoles would:
-
Level the playing field between all platforms
-
Make the cross-platform experience more accessible
-
Encourage more players to connect, create, and play together
-
Show that Microsoft truly puts its community first
You already made online multiplayer free for some games like Fortnite — could Minecraft be next? After all, it's a paid game and one of the most beloved in the world. Giving console players the same free online experience as PC/mobile players would make a huge difference.
Thank you for considering this — and thank you for continuing to support Minecraft and its amazing community.
