Just like pigs can be boosted with a carrot on a stick, the Happy Ghast could be boosted with snowballs. Only the owner can do this, by throwing a snowball into the ghast’s mouth for a short speed burst.
I think the Happy Ghast could be much more fun and useful if it had a boost mechanic inspired by pigs with a carrot on a stick. Instead of holding an item, the owner would use snowballs to give their Happy Ghast a temporary burst of speed.
How it works:
- While mounted, the owner throws a snowball at the Happy Ghast’s mouth. An “eating” animation plays when the snowball lands.
- The Happy Ghast gets a temporary speed boost (for example, +50% movement speed for 2–3 seconds).
- Only the owner can activate the boost. Other players cannot boost someone else’s ghast.
- Each snowball gives one boost. There could be a short cooldown (around 5 seconds), with a limit of 3 boosts in a row before a longer cooldown (10 seconds).
Why this is good:
- Gives players more interactive control, similar to pigs with a carrot on a stick.
- Snowballs are easy to obtain, making the mechanic accessible but not overpowered.
- The owner-only rule prevents griefing and abuse.
- The visual animation (throwing a snowball into the ghast’s mouth) makes the boost fun and unique.
This feature would make Happy Ghasts more engaging to ride, while keeping the balance fair and familiar by borrowing from existing mechanics.
