Rename Spear "Lance"

The term "spear" is a bit of an odd choice of name for the new weapon. Historically, spears are fairly lightweight, moderately powerful, and can be used not only in melee, but also thrown in ranged combat. This does not describe the new weapon accurately.

I suggest renaming it the "lance", as such weapons were actually historically used in jousting, and are more like the new weapon.

    These types of spears usually weren't thrown, they were mostly used for thrusting and keeping distance between you and your enemy. A lance could be a term for the Minecraft spears, because spears weren't very heavy and lances were used for jousting, but considering the way lances typically looked they'd have to change the texture as well.

    Except this isn't even a lance, it'd look drastically different.

    What we have now is a Spear, historically; spears has been used on horseback especially on actual wars just like the way it is portrayed in Minecraft.

    If you're going with a realistic and historical angle, guess what? Lances can't be used at all on foot, while you can with Minecraft's Spear, because it IS a spear.

    Minecraft's spear is not only for jousting, so we can't name that a lance.

    This topic is very controversial. while i do agree that Lance would be a lot more appropiate, because even when spears were used on horseback, they were used for stabbing, not jousting, lances were also way too heavy to stab on foot. I'd suggest making 2 seperate weapons, a spear and a lance, so that this actually works well.

    I agree, it feels weird, and I'd prefer if "spears", if added, behaved more like how tridents do.

    Yes, this makes a lot more sense, especially considering that you can "joust" with a lance, not a spear

    Especially with how this weapon is
    -notably heavy
    -intended to be charged into enemies
    -is much weaker when held still
    -primarily shown to be used on horseback

    Functionally, it's a lance
