Release usernames from inactive accounts

Right now, many Minecraft usernames are stuck on old and inactive accounts that haven’t been used for years. This makes it really difficult for new players, or for those who want to change their nickname and find something unique. My suggestion is for Mojang to implement a system that releases usernames from inactive accounts. For example: • Accounts that haven’t logged in for X years (3, 5 or more) could have their usernames freed up. • The original owner could be notified and given a chance to recover the account before the release. • This would give the community much more freedom when choosing names, and make the system fairer. Other games and platforms already have similar policies, and it would be a big improvement for the entire Minecraft community.

    Is there anything we can do to get more people seeing this? There are SO many inactive accounts with usernames that active players would like to have, and most of the time it's as simple as not wanting to have to put random numbers or underscores at the end of your name. Any idea on how to get this escalated?
