native server password support

Adding users to a whitelist can be somewhat tedious for semi-large private servers, while running an open server can open up security risks from unwanted users and automated bots scanning the internet. i have personally had bots connect and disconnect within a split second on my open servers.

I would like for a password system to be implemented, where in vanilla servers such a password allows the bypassing or adding to the whitelist if correct. 


I think the implementation cost should be somewhat trivial, its honestly dumb it hasn't been done yet.
