I think the main problem of implementing this is because of phone users. How would the user block shields, if not crouching? How would you get something on your offhand if not through the inventory UI? There'd be too many buttons in the UI that it'd be confusing as heck.

Now, for console Bedrock players, I can see. There's currently this mod on Java Edition called Legacy4J that, well, makes Java play more like the "Bedrock" of old (even though technically that version isn't Bedrock, but... whatever). Alongside this, it also comes with remappable controller imputs, like B to crouch, A to jump, etc. One of these imputs is "Swap with Offhand," which is not mapped to anything by default, but I have it set to the left D-Pad imput (y'know, the same imput for emotes -_-), but you could swap it to, idk, pushing the left joystick down?

1.9 Combat is very much possible on KB&M as well as controller. However, phone users who like to use the on-screen controls would very much struggle. If this were to be implemented, I'd just disable the function to have 1.9 combat on mobile, unless you're using a controller and/or keyboard or mouse.

Those are just my thoughts on it. :)
