The current way Minecraft handles server resource packs is unsafe. Anyone can easily extract the files and use them without permission. This has unfortunately become common and many servers have their unique textures and models stolen, and sometimes these assets are even being sold.
As a server owner, this is very discouraging. I put a lot of effort into making my server stand out, to make it unique to play, and what I see now is the same assets I made appear on random servers that are not related to me. There is currently one way to try to stop this: Some community tools try to obfuscate resource packs, but with the right software it’s still easy to bypass.
I believe that Mojang could improve this system. Even if it can’t be made 100% secure, adding protection methods such as encryption, streaming assets directly from the server, tying the pack to the server or ANY WAY that you can think of would make stealing much harder. This would help protect creators’ work and support a healthier Minecraft community. Thank you ahead
