Details:
Currently, dialog screens in Minecraft place all elements (text, buttons, names, etc.) in a fixed, automatic layout. This limits creativity and customization.
My idea is to let creators set a position for each element, using x and y coordinates, since dialogues are displayed in 2D. For example:
-
Place text at specific positions instead of always stacked
-
Move buttons around the screen instead of only below the text
-
Allow images/icons (if added later) to be freely positioned
This would make it possible to design custom layouts for NPCs, menus, and interactive storytelling. Creators could make more unique UIs, mini-games, or roleplay experiences without being restricted to the default dialog format.
Why:
-
More flexibility for mapmakers and server creators
-
Opens the door for immersive RPG-style dialogue screens
-
Makes Minecraft’s UI system more like a real editor instead of fixed slots
