How does Steve know to use flint and steel until he knows how to use a match? Good question. Now you can craft yourself matches. Like torches these require less material to craft. They will light portals, tnt, amd even a furnace for a little while.... Easy as finding sand/clay and having sticks to craft these starter flames.
