Launcher Play button not launching Minecraft

When pressing the Play button, it says preparing at the bottom but doesn't launch Minecraft Java. It says I have encountered a problem, and I should try to relaunch the launcher. I tried and it didn't work. I also tried reinstalling the Launcher, but that also didn't work. What do I do?
