Minecraft Launches - Language options

Gentlemen,

I would like to give you my opinion on the languages chosen ​​in which the Minecraft Launcher can be displayed.

You have included Catalan among the languages ​​available.

As an Andorran citizen and a Catalan speaker, I am extremely happy, I congratulate you for this.

I would love for Catalan to also be available in Minecraft Java Edition.

I just want to make one caveat: you have specified “Català (Valenciá) – Paìs Valencià”. (N°1)

I completely agree that Catalan is spoken in Valencia Country, (Spain's autonomous community with 5 M. of habitants), but many of its citizens consider Valencian to be their language (something most linguists disagree with).

Where there is no doubt that Catalan is spoken is in Catalunya (Catalonia), (Spain's autonomous community with 8 M. of habitants), as it is also spoken in the Principality of Andorra, the only country in the world with Catalan as its sole official language, although there are only 80,000 of us.

Here comes my suggestion: I think the most correct and complete way would be to show these three options.

• “Català - Catalunya”
• “Català - País Valencià”
• “Català - Principat d’Andorra”

This shouldn't mean doing three translation tasks, since the language is exactly the same.

And it would be much better, and simpler, to simply mention “Català”, without further specification.
