How about a new type of minecart track called Copper Rails?
Unlike normal rails, Copper Rails get their speed boost from a Redstone signal. The stronger the signal, the faster your minecart will go.
* Crafting: You'd craft them similarly to powered rails, but you'd use copper ingots instead of gold.
* How They Work: The speed of a minecart on a Copper Rail would be directly proportional to the Redstone signal strength. For example, a signal strength of 8 would accelerate the minecart to 8 blocks per second, while a signal strength of 15 would reach the maximum speed of 15 blocks per second. This would be perfect for creating custom-speed tracks and intricate Redstone contraptions.
* Oxidation: Just like other copper blocks, Copper Rails would oxidize over time. With each stage of oxidation, the speed of the rail would decrease by 2 blocks per second. You could wax the rails with a honeycomb to prevent them from oxidizing, preserving their full speed permanently.
* Uses: You could build minecart highways that use a high-strength Redstone signal for maximum speed. Or, you could create tracks with varying speeds for puzzle maps or mini-games. For example, a track that only moves at a slow speed unless a player solves a specific puzzle to increase the Redstone signal.
