    The lightning rod already outputs a redstone signal when struck and I've already got a portable redstone power source, it's called a lever.

    This allows more automation, creative redstone builds, and power management — especially useful for survival redstoners who want more from rare lightning events. It's not about replacing the lever, but adding a new tool to the redstone toolbox
