Adding Custom GUI Creation to Minecraft

Minecraft needs native support for fully custom GUIs. Currently, we can only modify existing interfaces (e.g., chests via resource packs), limiting creators.

 

Proposal:
Add an in-game GUI editor allowing creation of unique menus, buttons, and interactive elements. Features:

• Place buttons, text, images, and item slots anywhere on-screen.
• Bind actions (e.g., run commands, open menus).
• Trigger GUIs via commands (e.g., /customgui open <name>).
• Export/import GUIs (.mcgui files).

 

Use Cases:

• Server hubs (minigame selection, shops).
• Adventure maps (NPC dialogs, quest logs).
• Education (interactive tutorials).

 

Why it Matters:

• Unlocks creativity without mods.
• Improves server UX (replaces clunky command menus).
• Attracts new creators/players.
• Keeps Minecraft competitive.

 

Implementation:
Start with a basic editor in Creative Mode, later expand with animations/API.

 

This would revolutionize Minecraft for creators and players. Please consider!

  I agree! On top of that, it would also cut off lots of dupers too, since duping glitches are mostly done through chest GUIs. This is such an underrated feature that would help server admins tremendously!
