For a long time, the Iron Trapdoor has had a problem; it has been crafted using 4 ingots in a 2x2 shape. This is inconsistent with Wooden Trapdoors and Copper Trapdoors, which use 6 ingots in a 3x2 shape. As well as that, the 2x2 recipe means that player can craft Iron Trapdoors without the need of a Crafting Table.
With the plan to introduce Copper Bars, this issue comes up again. Since the current Iron Bars recipe is what you would want as an Iron Trapdoor recipe. And now the Copper Bars are taking the recipe of the Copper Trapdoor.
I believe the best idea would be the following:
- Make Iron/Copper Trapdoors crafted from 6 ingots in a 3x2 shape (Mojang can determine whether it should output more than 1 trapdoor per craft).
- Make Iron/Copper Bars crafted from 4 ingots & 2 nuggets in a 3x2 shape similar to Wooden Fences (Mojang can determine whether it should output 16 bars or some other number).
This would be suitable now given the plan to also add a Copper Nugget to the game.
Doing it this way means:
- All trapdoors have the same recipe shape - same as all doors having the same recipe shape.
- The Iron Trapdoor requires a Crafting Table to be crafted - same as other trapdoors and all doors.
