I’m a long-time Minecraft PvP player and would like to suggest an idea to improve the combat system that could unite players from different PvP communities (1.8 and 1.9+).
Key points:
1. Sword deals full damage and knockback at click speeds from 1 to 8 CPS (clicks per second). Beyond 8 CPS, damage and knockback gradually decrease to prevent spam clicking and macros.
2. Axe keeps a cooldown of about 0.7–0.9 seconds, remaining a powerful but slow weapon for breaking shields and delivering heavy hits.
3. Introduce a stamina system: hitting too rapidly reduces player accuracy and movement speed for 1–2 seconds, limiting spam clicks.
4. After each hit, show an efficiency indicator displaying the percentage of damage dealt, helping players improve their timing.
5. Frequent and continuous shield use temporarily reduces its effectiveness or causes it to break for 0.5–1 second, encouraging tactical play.
This system preserves the use of advanced PvP techniques like tapping, W-tap, and strafe while penalizing excessive spam.
