Redstone currently lacks simple and compact ways to send Signals downwards.
We do, however have slab/glass-towers that are perfect for sending Signals upwards and act as a 1-way "diode" which is basically godsent in Computational Redstone(enabling priority logic, adders, etc).
In order to fill this gap, i propose the following compromise:
Slabs Keep their existing behavior of only letting Signals flow up -> enabling 1-way up-towers
Glass adapts the current bedrock behavior, of letting Signals flow bi-directional -> enabling 2-way bidirectional Towers
Stairs Change their current behavior, to only let Signals flow down -> enabling 1-way down-Towers
These tweaks would allow faster, more compact and complexer builds, without changing the existing behavior of slabs. They’d introduce fresh possibilities without unnecessary complication, giving players greater design freedom.
This "Holy trio" of slabs, stairs and glass would lay the foundation for future Redstone development, and would influence nearly every technical Redstone community, without removing existing behavior.
