Shelves work very well for swapping a set of tools for an activity, but when the player wants to remove all items for an activity, a chest or other container is still required.
Instead, once a full hotbar row of shelves is powered, a row above of the same material, also powered and equal length, could pull the first row of the player inventory; a third row and fourth row would then swap a full inventory and hotbar.
This ability would make shelves an instant ready for games, or for puzzle and adventure maps, a full instant player preparation location. For building, it creates a board to lay out a palette of blocks.
