Iron Golems Re-Golemed

Iron Golems are inherently pretty sick. But, even if still quite powerful, a relic of the time they were introduced. Golems in modern minecraft are relatively weaker then they used to be. And although you could just buff them stats wise, that's lame, uncreative, and would also ruin the strategy of killing them for iron early game. Instead, players should be allowed to create some form a golem armor, maybe enhancements or upgrades. Using some of the many materials. Obviously Iron is off the table, I feel for some reason they might be too closely associated with it already. But this is a perfect chance to give copper a new use, or just go tride-and-true with gold and diamond and netherite golem buffers. And maybe for fun give the more unique materials fun effects, put gunpowder on them and they'll cause explosions on death, throw lapis on and hitting them will enchant your weapons with any 1 random weapon-specific enchant at stage 1. Or be funny and have adding snowballs to them make snow golems attack them, as they've illegally infringed on their copyright.
