Yes please! The current routing logic seems very inefficient for the golems trying to deposit items if you have more than ~5 chests in your storage system, which is... most storage systems. And as much as I love them, I don't think I'd want 20 copper golems running around my base just to filter things somewhat efficiently. And in really large storage areas I don't really see them being used at all, which is a shame.

Honestly, I wonder if that would be too smart for the game to handle??

I'd rather if the golems checked chest more quickly; just running around, flinging chest open, and only stopping when they find a compatible chest OR return the item to the bottom of their copper chest and start from the top.

Could just have them detect what's in the chests, after singular exploration... then when game detects it has been changed, they can do the process again
    But +1

I think ultimately it'd be more efficient if Golems just knew where you stored your items. The feature of looking at each checking each chest does create a sense of cute curiosity and whimsy but also auditory overstimulation (at least for me personally) and frustration. I have a LOT of chests with very few unique items per chest and my golems keep checking the exact same 3 chests rather than the other 30 in the room with them

hacer que pueda agarar 32 items en una mano y 32 en la otra para que pueda yevar de 64 items alos cofres sinseramente yo como jugador tecnico no lo usaria si lo dejan con 16 items

    Some possible routing logics:

    • Renaming a golem and a chest means the golem only searches chests with that nametag. Then you can have a "wood" section, a "stone" section, "tools" section, and so on.
    • Golems only sort from their level of weathered chest BUT can put items in a chest at the next stage of weathered. Then you divide your storage room between unoxidized, exposed, weathered, and oxidized. You still only have to dump items into one unoxidized chest beside the entryway.
    • Golems can read item frames and can put items in the chest that match the frames. Could be expanded to read item frames and put what's in the block-tag (ex. "small flowers" or "villagers pick up") in that chest.

These would speed up the golem sorting process but still put the responsibility on the player, which is usually what Mojang prefers.

Yes! They're cute as buttons, but not really smart enough to handle any large storage system. So either you have lots and lots of copper golems (Where do all the excess copper chests go?), complicated copper golem sorting hidden behind the walls (But now I can't squee over how cute they are), or really small basic storage (which is annoying both for ease of use, and because the last time I checked they still were trying to getting stuck on chests they can't physically reach).

PLEASE. I swear you give it ten chests, two rows of 5 on top of each other, and more often than not it checks three, then goes back to the copper chest, it's so bad. A simple memory that would know if a chest has been checked already or not in the 10 chest list would be fantastic, and then to add to that the ability for it to remember what was placed where would be SO helpful. Right now they just run around like chickens with their heads missing half the time, which makes them no help at all

And like the user above me said, they're cute as heck and I want to be able to see them run around and sort, but they're just too dumb right now on release to be useful at that without shoving them in tiny hallways where you'll basically never see them! I want to let them free roam around my storage room and look adorable AND be good at sorting, but they just aren't right now, and that's sad

This is a genius idea, and is exactly what we need for the copper golem. I want it to be useful so badly, but right now, it's frankly just not very helpful.

Copper Golems should at minimum remember the last item type / chest accessed rather than starting from scratch and searching ALL chests over and over when sorting stacks of items this one simple change would immensely speed up sorting.
