Given that Copper Golems have literal lightning rods on their heads, I think it wouldn't be too far-fetched if they could attract lightning to themselves in the same manner. And, of course, it would also be nice if being struck by lightning gave them some sort of benefit. Therefore: overclocking!
A Copper Golem overclocks when struck by lightning, probably for about 15 seconds before the overclocked timer runs out. During this time, all of its actions are sped up dramatically - think Baby Zombie in terms of speed - making it way more effective than its non-overclocked peers.
Having this feature would not only add a unique environment-construct interaction, but also add an interesting incentive for intentionally building sorting systems making use of Copper Golems in places where said inhabitants would be able to be struck by lightning.
