Picture this: butterflies of all colors, (maybe even special Pride patterns!) floating around flower forest and meadows, dripping pollen particles like the Minecraft bees do. The mob's signature sound is fairy tinkling, like tiny bells. I had an idea for a rare type of butterfly. Perhaps only seen in the Nether or in the Deep Dark, the rare Enchanted butterfly drops its wings.
By using Enchanted butterfly wings in a brewing stand (leaving the brewing process up to Mojang- I'm not one to brew often in survival and don't know loads about it), you can create a flying potion that lasts for a short amount of time. This forces the player to save the potion for an important situation, instead of having ages of flying or everlasting flying. While there IS an elytra, as I've been reminded more than ten times, those are very rare and only found in End cities. The flying potion, as I said, would only give the player a short thrill of flight.
As for feeding butterflies, I just think certain type of flowers for different species (if species would even exist) or just all flowers in general would probably do. For the enchanted butterfly, I think the Torchflower or the Eyeblossom would fit the aesthetic.
Well, I've been keeping that idea in for more than two years, and just never really thought actually share it. Sorry for the long entry! I hope that, while maybe not the next game update, or even the next five, this idea will be stored away somewhere and used in the future. :)
