In one of the churches, stairs in the back-left corner lead down to a secret underground prison. The room measures about 10 blocks long, 7 blocks wide, and 3 blocks high. Inside, you might find a new mob — the infected pillager. If a zombified mob infects a pillager and the player later cures it, the mob becomes loyal. This effect only works on infected pillagers, not regular ones.
To bind the cured pillager to you, place a new block nearby: the Pillager Beacon. It’s crafted with a compass in the center, wood blocks in all four corners, and iron ingots on the left, right, top, and bottom. Once the beacon is active, the pillager attaches to it and stays within a 100-block radius.
Your new ally will attack hostile mobs such as zombies, skeletons, and spiders, but won’t react to creepers or endermen — and they’ll ignore him too. You can equip the pillager with any armor (from leather to netherite), give him a weapon like a sword, axe, trident, bow, or crossbow, and even hand him a shield or totem of undying for protection.
