Why add Terracotta Cliff Cities?
Added back in 2013, the Badlands still feel pretty barren, lacking Villages and unique dungeons and structures. I think adding a new form of settlement protected by Terracotta golemlike beings would help revitalize this region with new ideas. They could even be populated by passive or neutral pixielike beings as residents, bypassing Villager creative restrictions entirely to create an entirely new experience for Players in these dangerous cities.
Terracotta Cliff City (TCC)
TCCs come in 3 variants: Cliff TCC, Canyon TCC, and Scorched TCC (abandoned and parched!). The first is cavernous and are semi-underground like Puebloan and Egyptian cliff dwellings, and the second is built into a newly generated canyon. But unlike Villages, these cities are home to new colorful and pixie-like residents (maybe like Puebloan kachinas), jealously guarded by Terracotta Guards. Rain and heat-centric in theming and gameplay, perhaps Turquoise or Aquamarine is used to trade.
These cities are patrolled by Neutral golem-like mobs made from Terracotta, like the Chinese Terracotta Army. Normally, they only attack if they or TCC residents are attacked or stolen from. But over time they become parched if they get too dry, driving them crazy and violent!
TCCs also open up lots of possibilities for representation of non-European fantasy, design, and items. Maybe the residents cultivate Maize and Peppers, and use colorful fireworks for defense. It could be really cool!
