The current details state that compatible devices are going to automatically turn on Vibrant Visuals. While I like Vibrant Visuals and I think I will play with them, there are people out there who will not want to ever play with Vibrant Visuals because they want it to look like older Minecraft, so the ability to turn it on or off should be as explicit as possible.
My proposal is that similar to the Narrator/Accessibility Settings popup, on first initializing a Java Edition instance it informs you that you have a compatible computer and gives you options to turn all of it on, turn all of it off, or go to the Settings to individually tweak everything. It can just be bog-standard:
Your device is compatible with Vibrant Visuals!
Would you like to enable Vibrant Visuals? This can be changed later.
Yes, enable them
No, do not enable them
Vibrant Visual Settings...
The people that want to just hop in and play with best estimated Vibrant Visuals settings are happy, the people that don't want to play with Vibrant Visuals at all are happy, the people that want to tweak it immediately get to see the settings, everybody can just click a button and get what they want while knowing they can switch, everybody wins.
