Why add the Magmooze?
The Nether Update added so much to Nether, adding 4 new biomes, Bastions, Striders, and drastically changing its generation. But the Nether is still filled with oceans of lava, and besides Striders they are oddly barren, especially when compared to overworld Oceans. While you may occasionally run into Magma Cubes swimming around, I think the lava itself needs more attention too! Minecraft currently doesn't have any mobs made of liquids, so I think one made of lava would be an exciting and challenging addition. I also think it would make lava pools in the Overworld a lot more interesting and dangerous!
What is the Magmooze?
The Magmooze is a new hostile mob made of lava and preys upon Striders. They ooze on block surfaces, even from ceilings, and travel quickly in lava. They are defeated using Snowballs, Buckets, and water. They melt cold blocks. Use buckets to shrink them, as they grow bigger over time! Maybe they can also combine?
Magmooze in the overworld spawn in Lava Lakes. The overworld air will cause them to harden, making them able to take damage from pickaxes, but with extreme defense as they develop an obsidian shell! The longer you wait, the greater pickaxe strength will be needed to crack their shells. Defeating one with a Diamond or Netherite Pickaxe will cause it to drop Obsidian. Magmoozes also drop Magma Cream and Ingots, and items burned up in their proximity. Find and defeat a Magmooze to get back items lost to lava deaths!
