Why do java players must log to bedrock

why do we have to log to bedrock for claiming a java cape.
me and lot of my friends don't play bedrock and never planning to play it on pc at least, but lately for the capes and specially the common cape, you just have to log to bedrock to get the cape. so I repeat the cycle, download minecraft bedrock log in, log off, delete bedrock.
