Hi. I have a 240hz monitor, and a PC capable of over 800FPS while playing Minecraft (500+ if I'm using Vanilla)
However, since my PC is much newer, I have a GPU prone to coil whine. Minecraft brings this out heavily, and I want to limit my FPS, however, setting my FPS limit to 260 or above (including in the options.txt file) makes the FPS unlimited. After inspecting the deobfuscated code for Minecraft, I found that for the FPS limit, there is a check for if it's set to 260 to just make it unlimited.
I could set the FPS to 260, however my 1% lows become more like 140FPS due to Java wackiness. It'd be nice if this option was reworked to allow up to 480FPS limits (360hz monitors *do* exist) so that these lag spikes can be avoided while still making my PC quieter.
I'm also not experienced enough in Java (enough meaning "at all") to make a mod to accomplish this, my only languages are Python and JS or else I would just mod it and call it a day since it seems relatively simple for someone experienced in Java.
I get this is a very "woe is me, I have a new powerful PC" thing, but it'd be a nice QoL improvement.
